Looking forward to seeing you all at Burnham tomorrow.

We are on the home straight now and the boat is going well. We had very strong SW winds that pushed the boat hard. During the night the big following sea and the high winds meant we had to hand steer and were unable to use neither the wind pilot nor the auto helm. it was a very tiring night with sleeping crew on the edge of there bunks.
Tonight or early morning we will be at Ramsgate marina and tomorrow preparing for the final trip across the Thames estuary and up the River Crouch. Our ETA at Rice & Cole's boat yard pontoon will be approx 15.00.

First 'east' position - now past the Greenwich Meridian. Making fast progress towards Ramsgate - all eager to reach home. Missing Glen - he never repeated a meal in 42 days at sea - we've had bacon sandwiches three times since. Seas particularly rough here in the channel - Atlantic was a lot easier.

Jul 5, 2005 - ENGLISH CHANNEL DAY 44
Said our goodbyes to wives/partners at Falmouth Marina and headed out to the English Channel for our final leg home. Now just the four of us. Hope to motor and sail continuously to Ramsgate, then an overnight to Burnham on Crouch. Planning the next trip as we go along. All invited to my and Wendy's wedding blessing in November 2005 - I don't deserve that girl - now she says I should do the trip from right to left.

Jul 4, 2005 - FALMOUTH DAY 43

Rest and shopping (!) at Falmouth. Glen left the boat to make his way back to Stockbrook Manor and cheffing duties - it looks like we will be back on bacon rolls and pasta. Boat seems strange without him. Best bit is we can raid the cupboards.

Jul 3, 2005 - FALMOUTH DAY 42

50°09'N/05°04''W 04:00
Arrived Falmouth. An hour late due to a boat sinking in the Falmouth approach. Went to assist at request of coastguard but were relieved of duty as a navy ship was in the vicinity and took over the rescue. Met by the wives and partners on the pontoon at 4am - complete with champagne and balloons. Good to see the girls again. Taxi to a hotel (felt like 100 mph) and rest in beds that don't move.
